World Cardmaking Day/Stamp In

Well I hope those of you who attended the Stamp In had a good time. I think our first time was successful.

Mark your calendars for Jan 10th, 2009. That will be our next event. We also plan on doing the rummage every time so bring that extra cash! Or if you have things to sell let me know and we'll work it in for next time.

For those of you who didn't attend I'm sorry. I'll try to have some pictures posted soon of the projects we did. All were in the Christmas theme but very different from one another. We had some great display boards and card from each set.

Well my stamp room is now the Christmas Stamp room. I'm getting in the mood. I've gotten out all my sets and started to play. I have some great ideas that I'll try to get posted soon (Camera battery died).

Scrapbooking

Well I'm attemping one of my very first actual scrapbook pages! The pictures are from last weekends wedding in MN. It obviously needs some journaling and some bling but I have to wait till tomorrow when my box of stuff finally comes!

Harley 105th

VROOOOM VROOOM

Thats pretty much what I heard all weekend. Traffic was bad every where you tried to go and streets were closed! But man were some of the bikes just cool! I didn't even venture down to the lake front in Milwaukee. These were taken right here in Waukesha. Shows you that art can come in all forms!

Falling Leaves

I took a walk last night around my neighborhood and noticed that some of the leaves are starting to change and fall already! :( So tonight I came up with this card for my first stamp class at the Oconomowoc park and rec. Hopefully they like it. It's simple but I think its nice.

Stamps: Lovely as a tree

Inks: Chocolate chip and various colored stampin write markers

paper: kraft, more mustard, really rust

what I did: I stamped the image in choclate chip and then just colored in various areas with the markers. Using the Aqua painter I went over the colored area and blended the colors together. I stamped the leaves in various colors on the kraft and distressed the edges of the paper around the image.

Wedding, Boats and Rivers

Well this past weekend I took a trip with a highschool friend and her family to one of our friends weddings in MN. Now the last time I really hung out with either one of these girls was about 8 years ago! It was like a mini trip down memory lane. We had a blast! The wedding was in Woodbury, MN and the reception was in Hudson, Wi. My friend Amy and her family and I did some exploring around that area and happened upon some really cool places. Of course we went to the mall of america but unless you are really in the mood to shop its not the place for you. We had only about 2 hours there so we kinda just walked quickly around to take it all in. Here are some pics from my trip. I'm going to begin working on the scrap book so I don't forget what happened! Goal is to have it done before the end of Sept. Lofty goal I know.

This is Me, Anna (the bride), and Amy the night before the wedding partying with her family.

This is her wedding present. Yes I stamped the enve and everything.

This is downtown Stillwater, MN a very cute old town. We could have spent all day here exploring the shops and taking a river boat ride but we only had two hours!

Bridge at the St. Croxi river in Stillwater, MN

This is the Waterstreet Inn, Stillwater, MN

Really old hotel, love to go back and stay.

Paddle boats on the St. Croix

A Starbucks in a building built in 1842! Had stained glass windows and everything.

Tool Time

Well it's Tuesday so that means its Tool Time. I'm looking around my stamp room and I can't really find any tools......... yeah its that bad. This week I will be doing something about it. Catalog kick off is in two weeks and I hope to have things moved around with more room in the stamp room.

Well right here on my desk is Crystal Effects.......you can kind of use it like a tool. It really enhances projects and gives them a good shine and if you use enough it can be kind of 3-D. It does take longer to dry so you have to be patient. I've searched splitcoast and some blogs and found the following things using Crystal Effects. Ok I keep getting Crystal Meth....not what I wanted....Ok here we go. They aren't that excited but all I could find at this point in time.

Look at the cow, the spots are shiny. This is done using a small brushed on layer just to give it a shine.

Ok now take a look at the balloons. This one is using a thicker layer to give it a raised glass look. Makes the balloons look more "real"

Convention day 2

Convention main stage

Today was the actual start of convention. We arrived at the Salt Palace at 8am only to find it already packed with demos. We went into the main stage area and people were already crazily swaping! It was hard to take in that ALL these people do the same thing that I do. We had some good classes today and learned about some upcoming specials and products that are just going to be great!

We went to dinner at the market street grill.........mostly seafood but I had the prime rib and it was delicious!

Tonight was the awards night and let me tell you some of these people sell stamps like crazy!! There were people getting awards for selling over $100,000 in a year (yes i have the right number of zeros in there!) Its encouraging as well as just plain crazy!

Here are some pics from today and a video of tonights musical performace by Tonic-Sol-Fa. They performed at my college a few years ago and put on a great show!

Day 1 started at 5:15am!! I got up to get ready to go to the airport. My friend Jamie dropped me off and I was on my way. Flight went fine, even got in early but because of the long wait for the shuttle I missed my tour, I guess I could have gone at another time but thats ok. We went right away to get our bags and catalog!!!!!!!!

YEAH!!! The bag is so cute, brown and green and light blue (on the inside) fun fun. And the catalog!!! Here's a preview for you lets just say paper!!!!

Yes I want it all!

Sneak Peak

I'm sure you all have been wondering what I've been so busy working on, here is a sample

One of my many swaps for convention

These are candy holders using the new incolors and Bella Rosa paper

Two different color combos of the same card. I can't decide which one I like better. I think green, everyone else says purple.

Forgotten

No I haven't forgotten about all of you I've just been VERY VERY busy getting ready for Convention. Yesterday was supposed to be TOOL TIME and I totally forgot so we're going to have to do Technique time because thats what I have been working on.

Its messy but the results are worth it............ Frosted Filters or I just call it the Coffee Filter Tech

Supplie: Ink Refillers, Spray bottle, Coffee Filters, Drying area, paper towl, heat gun (optional if you are impatient), Kitchen plate

1. On your plate drop 2-3 different colors of ink refillers. In mine I used Brocade Blue, Bordering Blue, and Night of Navy

2. Spray 4-5 times with water bottle till colors start to run, you don't want it too wet otherwise it will wash out the color on the filter

3. place filter into water and press down to soak in color

4. lay on paper town or dry with heat gun

5. after its dry roll it up into a ball so it crinkles

WARNING: USING DARK COLORS WILL DYE YOUR SKIN FOR A WHILE

This was Saturday after I finished. Its Weds and I only have some left in my nail beds. Its getting better. I felt like Grover for a while!

This card is for one of my swaps I am in during convention which is........... 21 days from today!!!

I have off tomorrow from work. I was supposed to go to the baseball game (GO BREWERS) but its all sold out! So I'm going to stay home and stamp instead. I have to get some things done so I can play with my new stuff that my friend in the brown truck will be bringing me on Friday! (A reason to go to work)
